"This archeological news brings to mind the controversial discovery of cocaine and nicotine in ancient Egyptian, African, Chinese and European mummies. The controversy stems from the fact that cocaine and nicotine come from the coca and tobacco plants, which in ancient days were only found in the Americas. Which means there could have been an ancient transoceanic trade in narcotics across either the Atlantic or Pacific. (Which could very well have been possible, given the additional archeological discoveries of ancient peanuts in China, corn in India, and Roman jars in Brazil.)"
Note: peanuts and corn are indigenous to the Americas.
