What do you mean exactly by "how long do laptops last"????

Do you mean, the LCD Monitor stops showing quality colors?

Do you mean your battery dies? (if this is the case you can purchase a new batery)

Do you mean, the laptop still works, but you have new models in market, and since your a fashion trend freak, you want the last of thelast??

I never understand people when they talk about this ridicolous point..

Laptops don't just die... I had 10 years old laptops and they were still working perfectly..

I think people are a littl eignorant about how a computer works, and they read somewehere about the life of a laptop and start talking bullshit.

Well, I understadn the avergae man, know shit about electronics.

A transistor don't "die"... Unless you burn or break it using a hammer.
