Thanks for all the stories, guys! I didn't think this many people would respond to my post. Here's another story of mine that is real. It happened at my old house so I didn't mention it in my first post, but it's cool nonetheless.
I was laying in bed with my girlfriend at the time. I was about to turn 16, I believe. The windows were open upstairs, and all of a sudden, I heard my collie dog barking outside like he did many times. The only difference is that he had been dead for a year. We put him down on July 3rd of the year before (I remembered because it was the day before Independence Day). This was on the 3rd of July the next year. And his bark was outside.
Now, things to consider:
- We lived on four acres, so this dog was in OUR yard
- Our nearest neighbors had no dogs.
- Collies have a very distinctive bark
- It was one year exactly since his death!
I swear this is all true. I immediately said to my girlfriend when it happened, "that's Raff, my dog. That's him." and I teared up. He barked for about 30 seconds and then stopped completely. It was weird, I had no urge to even run down and look outside or turn lights on or anything. I knew it was him. Then my girlfriend spent the night trying to scare me into thinking that he was going to be walking around inside our house when we went downstairs.
Oh yeah, and my sister said she saw our other, tiny dog running around playing with what should have been Raff. Looking up at no one, but playing as if he was still there, just how she always used to with him. Granted dogs can be weird and just do bizarre things on their own like that, but you never know. He was quite a bit bigger than her, and apparantly she was looking up a lot while she did this. Makes you wonder.
