I think the first DWI, assuming no accident or no one hurt, should be treated like a traffic ticket ... hefty fine, the schools or training or whateverthefuck they're making people do these days.
If the 2nd DWI is within 5 years, it ought to be 6 months in jail. Period. No hiring a lawyer and getting it reduced to C&I - treat 'em like a 16-year-old black kid with a 2nd pop for selling crack.
