response to original post:
1) There ARE health benefits from circumcision -- lower rates of cancer and infection.
2) There ARE female genital "circumcisions" in some parts of Africa.
As for "BS" reasons, many of the things we do are "bizarre" but we still do them... makeup, piercing ears, men wearing their hair shorter than women, deodorant, etc etc. All these things vary from culture to culture. Some cultures practice facial scarring, we don't. Same situation applies to circumcison. The Hebrews got it from the Egyptians, some Christians got it from the Hebrew tradition, and so and so forth.
