My list of annoying sale's tactics.

I hope this doesn?t come off as harsh, but some sale?s tactics really annoy me. For the record, I never mind taking the time to hear of new opportunities, in fact, I look forward to it.

1) When you tell me that by not scheduling time with you to hear about your product, I am costing our company money. In almost all cases, your product is unoriginal and pretty ?run of the mill? dynamically. If you want to sell to someone, don?t insinuate they aren?t smart enough to keep the company profitable. And remember, your product likely isn?t the platform of someone else?s business. It may help, but don?t confuse help with changing the entire business direction. Feeds are great, but they aren?t our entire business.

2) Calling me a snob. This is one of my favorites. It actually took me a little time to figure it out. Basically, ?someone? accuses you of snubbing him or her over and over again.? They can?t figure out why you are ?so cool to everyone else? but won?t seem to give them the time of day. Here is the translation: They call you out publicly as a snob because you have denied them a sale. Then you respond publicly ?man, I am really sorry, I had no idea I ever was like this towards you, next show, I am buying you a beer.?

They get a free beer and an opportunity to use tactic 1 on you for about 10 minutes at the next show.

Genius.

3) Pretending we have known each other for ages. This one actually gets me almost every time. Someone icq?s you:

?Hey Cor man! Dude, I want to apologize for not meeting you for dinner that night. Dude, things were hectic. Anyways, hope that Cali surf is still kick?n homeboy! Call me when you can. 210 333 4444.?

They know that I am too afraid to ask them who they are for fear of being rude. Well guess what? That train has stopped and I now ask, even if insulting someone is on the line.

After that, I ignore them. In which case, they revert back to tactic 2 followed shortly by tactic 1.

4) The cold call or icq. I really don?t mind people calling me about business, but please, for the sake of everyone, KNOW WHAT OUR COMPANY DOES! You have no idea how often someone calls me and mid-way through the pitch I say, ?Well, that sounds cool and maybe I am an idiot, but how would that work in Wegcash??

And then they say, ?Well, what do you guys do online??

I am not kidding, happens all the time.

Once they figure out I am on to their game, they call back with tactic 3.

5) Pretending that you will sleep with me if we talk about your product but never actually ponying up the sex.

I don?t have a problem with this one, but don't follow it up with tactic 4; please know what we do. In the event you do pony up the sex, tactics 4, 3, 2, and 1 are all acceptable.
