You're trying to have a nice intimate meal with a nice lady, you're maybe dropping $20 a pop for the food, another $20 for wine, appetizers for $15, desserts are $4 a pop, and a few drinks before and after and you're easily into the $120-$150 range with a decent tip.

2 months ago I dined with a friend at a higher end restaurant in Sonoma Valley. We ordered a good $200 worth of food and wine. Just before my first entree' arrived (I'd ordered the 5 course Chefs tasting menu) the head Chef, who was supposed to have been preparing my dishes personally, came out of the kitchen, plonked his fat, bald, greasy ass down 2 tables away, and started yapping on a cellphone. He continued for a good half an hour.
Rather than make a scene, we took our consolation in the fact that the gal we were dining with contributes restaurant reviews to several widely read Bay Area newspapers
For anyone who is interested, the restaurant to avoid is Sonoma Meritage.

Mr. Cell Phone would be Carlos Cavallo, and his wife is not nearly as good looking as she looks in the picture ;)
