A Letter I Received from an Asian Content Provider
THIS IS NOT A SPAM
It's a letter I received from some fella in Asia:
********** Begin
Hi Webmaster,
I'm a photographer based in Asia and would like to
venture into shooting Asian adult contents and selling
the contents to content companies in the US. Currently
I'm looking for content companies to work as a
partners where I would shoot the contents and sell to
them.
I will only be selling my contents to content
companies and not to adult webmasters. It is because
I'm not physically in the US and wouldn't want to
spend extra money getting a place there to keep the
models' records.
I'll start shooting contents next few days but would
like to source for interested parties now so that once
I've the contents, I can show it to you immdiately.
If you'll interested, please send me an emails and we
can discuss more into details. I'm very flexible and
anything can be discussed.
Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you soon.
Regards,
Sam

My reply was:
I really don't know how Title 18 USC §2257 can be applied to a photographer outside US jurisdiction. It is a law requiring producers of certain materials to maintain identity and age records for the people they photograph or video. This is not to say that US webmasters will be eager to deal with a producer outside the US. The main assurance they would want is that in case of a dispute over a model's age, suitable records could be produced promptly.
So, whatever reservations US webmasters have over content produced outside the US will probably still apply even if the content were to be sold directly or through an established US reseller.
