I think tranny, shemale, transsexual are all interchangeable in porn terms.

I think of "tranny" also as being short hand for "transsexual".
In the same way that "tranny" is short hand for "transmission".

Which reminds me of a funny autoshop sign there used to be a pic of on the web. It said "Is your tranny dead? Call Fred!"
