Good question,
Many people are too lazy to vote or too intimidated by their bosses to try to get out of work on election day (I've spoken with a number of people who didn't vote because, "I forgot to give notice for the time off" or when I was in college during the 2000 election, "I forgot to get registered to vote in time"). Republicans tend to be either moderately wealthy or extremely religious. So if it's not the tax cuts for the top 1% that 20% seem to belive they are a part of, it's keeping the influence of the queers and the minorities away from their virgin heterosexual aryan offspring. And Bush does a pretty good job of this, he kept one homosexual, Jeff Gannon, away from his supporters' children by having him over to the White House over 250 times in a 2 year period. One can only guess what fun they might have had together. At any rate, conservatives get pretty fired up about the issues, more so than liberals, and are therefore more likely to vote. This is probably due to the exceedingly conservative media. Especially talk radio... Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Drudge... you name it, any city, anytime you will find at least one of them on the radio. But to be fair, there are quite a few liberal talk radio shows, you can listen to them on AM in New York, Chicago, LA, San Francisco, and a few other large cities, or on the internet and satellite radio. And to top it all off, the company that manufactured the voting macines used in a number of states had previously done business with more than one member of the current administration.
But if I were you, I wouldn't take my analysis so seriously. I'm a naive Reagan-Baby raised on MTV, and socialized by the commie public school system where they fire teachers for being heterosexual.
