My point is that this decreases the voting rate, I'm not defending people for coming up with an excuse not to vote. It's bullshit, but many employers do discourage participation in democracy.
If you don't care enough, or feel as though your vote won't count, are you really going to go out of your way to vote... get up early and go to the polls, wait in line for an hour and be late to work. Or, after working 8 hours, do you want to go though that, or do you just want to go home? If you make your living by collecting interest on your trust fund, however, I'm sure its a bit easier on you to take a break from you busy day snorting coke by the pool to go and vote.
I understand how important it is to vote, but apparently most people don't. Approximately 10-20% of the US population votes consistently. This is a huge problem, not for republicans who would much prefer that all the lazy poor people didn't vote. That way they won't vote for people who will give them free money. Money that could have been used to kill brown people in exotic places around the world like Iraq, Iran, or Los Angeles.
