That depends on how you define a war and the outcome. When we normally think of war, its with violence to compel the enemy to fullfill your will. The British Empire was the most powerful empire at that time, and Gandhi proved that it could be fought without violence. He won the right way, the others did not win at all.
My point is that you can win a war without violence, like he did. Its the passive part that get international sympathy, and by turning the agressive part into sense instead of madness.
