We have saddle back caterpillars here in Florida and they give a pretty nasty sting. They are only about an inch long, bright green with a marking on their back that looks like a saddle. They hang on the underside of leaves. I'd be out mowing grass on a riding mower without a shirt on and drive under a low hanging branch and one would rub all the way down my back. Stings for about a half hour. Burns like a man-o-war sting but not as bad as a stingray barb. I know because I've got hit by all three. I think I need to stay inside.
