Experiments tend to prove that near-death experiences are a brain phenomenon when the the brain is dying (and in some cases is resuscitated). A researcher was allowed to put legible signs up above a ledge at the top of hospital rooms. The wording on the signs would be legible to someone high enough to look down on a body but would not be seen by someone lying in bed. None of those reporting having been floating above their bodies could report what the signs read. Like "deja vu," it's something that seems real, but isn't.
