I am a paranoid Individual when it comes to money. 96-99 was our boom time, I paid off all the bills, bought another place.. put money in savings. Nobody ever knew that we made anything. We still drove our old cars (trust me junkers) etc etc..
The only thing we did in those 3 years was a huge trip to Europe and Disneyland with the kids..
Than in 2000 it slowed down and came to a steady income, no longer the mass we had before. So we slowed down. With no outstanding bills we were able to save a little more and now just live confy.
I seen some of my friends who kept saying to us in the boom years, man you all need to spend some of the cash, they drove nice cars, travelled,, lived high.. I am still in contact with some. They still live in the same rented place, the sites are gone or don't do nada anymore.
Lots of stuff we did wrong in the beginning. We never really got to meet and made "deals" got to know the players etc etc etc.. So now were just average. Guys who make a living but not rich like some I know who went thru the boom and suceeded.
I am sorry to see him struggle, I know its easy to spend it when you have it expecially when youre young with a lot of cash. You don't think in advance. I was in my early 30s when it hit us and we were just a little more careful
God I am drunk and now I got the munchies..
