One of Freuds stages is the 'oral' stage, in which you learn to gratify yourself by putting things in your mouth. Every child goes through this. Something traumatic may have happend to you during this stage of development and you're likely suppressing it. For your sake, I will not speculate in public what I think might have happend.

Interesting. I don't think you're really on track though. And remember, I am trying to get the gum OUT of my mouth (it's already in there). I am certainly not gratifying myself by putting anything in there.
I was never abused as a child, in any way, if that's what you are getting at.
