I've had 3 German Shepherds and 3 other dogs all together in the living room with 4 cats I used to have. Each one would sit on a different sofa, chair or spot on the floor.

None of the 6 big dogs would dare mess with the cats.

Cats are tough cookies when it comes to fending off dogs. All it takes is a dog to get one good slap from a cat's claw and they'll never mess with them again.
