You guys don't get it. It's not "The Government". George Bush is not the leader. He's the figurehead, just as Clinton was before him. They are cogs in the wheel and are expendable when they get out of line.
The real power is what is sometimes called the Shadow Government, made up of high ranking military, intel, compromised senators/congressmen, private think tanks and well placed media assets. Google Operation Mockingbird.
The Monica Lewinsky thing happened just as Bill Clinton was about to publically release the inspector general report's on CIA drug traficking, to get back at certain Republican and democratic personal enemies. He was about to expose "the game" and that is a no-no. He could have ended up like JFK but instead they were able to shame him into silence. The report was released on the day the Lewinsky scandal broke and as a result was covered by only a single AP article that was easily overlooked by the American public.
The media is simply a propaganda wing for the real power players.
