Its about that time of year again!
I always do a major wine splurge on New Years eve. Rather than going out or having a party, we do a long, drawn out dinner for 6-8 people. 5-6 courses plus dessert, and everybody cooks or contributes in one way or another. Lots of fun!
Here is my wine short list for this year, I'll probably pick one or two of each category.
Bubbly:
19?? Krug (I'll take any vintage I can get..)
1986 Pol Roger Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill
1990 Billecart-Salmon cuvee Elizabeth
1990 Veuve Cliquot "Le Grande Dame"
Reds:
1990/1998 Beaucastel "Hommage au Jacques Perrin"
1991 Dominus
1997 Gaja Sperss
1982 Cheval-Blanc
1995 Shafer "Hillside Select" Cab.
1989 La Mission Haut Brion
1990 Margaux
1986 Lafite Rothschild
1991 Dunn Howell Mountain Cab.
Stickies:
1998 Muller-Catoir Gimmeldinger Schlossel Rieslaner Trockenbeerenauslese (Go ahead, try to pronounce it)
1976 d'Yquem
1983 d'Yquem
1990 d'Yquem
1955 Taylor-Fladgate
As for food... I'm not sure yet. I pick my wines first and match the food to them, rather than the other way around. You can tell where my priorities lie. However, there will be Wagyu beef.
I'm also going to get a 1/2oz of the kindest, stickiest ass green bud on gods green earth.
