I complained once about having to take my running shoes off, saying there is no metal in them.
Sure enough they pulled me over, then a nice enough guy explained to me, that I better NOT have any traces of nitrates on my shoes, because I will be delayed for a long , long time.
I said HUH ??? A further explanation showed that if I went to home depot, tru the garden dept and walked tru some spilled fertiliser, it would show in the analysis.
I'm thinking to myself oh shit, did I do that or not? Well as it turn out they were ok , but I wont ever complain again. Just bow my head, dont look them in the eye,and yes sir no sir.............
The testing is totally inconsistent, some airports do want shoes off others dont.
