Just another reminder, the board will be down for some major upgrades this weekend. This one is bigger than any of the previous ones that I have done, and will take a bit more time.
I've been testing all of this so much for the last month and a half, it's ridiculous. For the last six weeks I've put in at least 16-hours a day or MORE, every single day. The actual upgrade will be smooth as silk, but the horsepower and processing time can't be shortcut, and is pretty damn severe. With 11M posts and 1M threads, the server gerbils aren't just running the Boston Marathon, it's like they get to run the Indy 500!!!!!!
GFY will go offline right around midnight Pacific Time on late Saturday night, and will probably be back online around 4:30am Pacific Time Sunday morning.
On the development servers the ACTUAL processing time was 3 hours, 20 minutes. Then 21 templates had to be totally rewritten. Those 21 templates involved rewriting 15,000 lines of code.
I've got everything nicely documented, checklists all prepared, and unless the entire United States experiences a total national black-out, I've already tested every conceivable possibility for doing everything in 4.5 hours or less.
Even though all of this will all be completed under a new FULL moon!!!
