show me one "disease" that allows a persons body to defy the law of physics and consume a certain quantity of energy, expend that energy and store fat at the same time. then consider the fact that oh... i dont know. isn't the number around 20% or so of the country is clinically obese and make the connection between whatever 1:1,000,000,000 disease you can dig up the fact that this country has turned into a country of slobs (with many other countries VERY close behind) and explain how its "ok and not their fault" because its just a "disease"
i'm not saying its not harder for some than others to control or maintain their weight. i am saying that you simply can't gain fat without consuming more calories than you are burning. thats not a whacky idea.. thats physics. a calorie is a unit of energy.
calling obesity a "disease" - is simply telling people "you're extremely fat and its not your fault and nothing can be done about it" - not only is that factually wrong and 100% innacurate. its horribly irresponsible and does a tremendous disservice to those who are obese and should be working towards improving their health rather than accepting it as fate while they continue with the same habits that put them where they are to begin with.
