lets say you are an imaginary sigwhore that we will call "madawgz" now this sig whore that we imaginarily named "madawgz" has a small business that includes posting on a message board. through this business he earns $600 per month. like any business, it can be sold to someone who is interested. now this sigwhore "madawgz" gets tired of posting and wants out. well he can sell his nickname to another person who is willing to put in the time and effort to continue posting. do you realize how hard it is for a newbie to start up and get more than $5/mo for his sig? You have to do some special in order to make your sig worth something. well the previous owner of "madawgz" did the work for you, all you have to do is continue posting and people will buy your sig (and will pay decent money for it)

its that simple. nicknames that have some fame associate with them will fetch decent sig revenues each month. hell we all see how companies still buy JTF's sig even though he is mean and nasty to others on the boards (not to mention he break the rules daily). nicknames are normally worth nothing however they can be worth something if fame is associated to them.
