To each his/her own, Roc - it's all about perspective
In reality, I'm 35 miles outside of "LA" - about 15 - 30 minutes from any part of "the SF valley" or Hollywood and most of my business meetings ... but I hear what you're saying
I'm close enough to enjoy the advantages I perceive that LA has to offer - weather, resturaunts, nightlife, beaches, culture, etc. - yet outside enough to agree somewhat with what you're saying!
- My kids are in a great private school.
- I work from home and choose when to take meetings so I avoid most traffic.
- Own my home and can afford not to worry about what some term a high cost of living.
- I live in one of the safest cities in the nation

In 2005, Santa Clarita was ranked the 34th safest city in the United States, up from 36th the year prior and standing as the third largest city among 371, according to a report released Monday.
