I think what he means is that if the person you're with is unattractive to an extreme, you can still love their personality, although when it comes to physical contact, it makes things much more complicated and even if sex is not all of it, it is still a part of it. Therefore, if there is that part missing its not better then being with someone with no personality... Its a whole all together; it has to be balanced and that doesnt make ppl shallow. It is simply a question of balance.
