I have no idea whether Sleazy believes all of the rubbish he writes or if he does so to press peoples' buttons. He is a fool if he does believe that money makes the man: it simply makes for men who can be extremely embarassing to be around, until they learn otherwise.
He is also wrong in a practical sense that has more relevance to this context. Change in business is indeed driven from the top, but it is often a reaction to an awareness of what customers want. In this regard affiliates are customers and as more sponsors perceive an advantage in promoting themselves as anti-scumware, more affiliates will become aware of the scumware issue and avoid sponsors who do not make such declarations. In particular they will avoid sponsors who align themselves with scumware.
In short, if enough affiliates make enough noise about scumware, they can drive change even though they may have little impact initially on the prime offenders. Business history is littered with once successful companies which acted as if the rules of the marketplace no longer applied to them.
That said, you should not have started this thread.
When you first started posting about scumware, you were performing a service and while doing so would obviously raise your profile, that did not seem to be your intention. Several sponsors were mentioned in your early posts and those posts were written objectively. I even understand why it was easier and made sense to target Lars and his programs: he does maintain a high profile on this board.
But over the past few weeks your posts have become increasingly personal and non-objective. Tactically that is the worst thing you could be doing since it was obvious that those who want to protect the status quo would at some point start attacking you on a personal level. You needed to stay objective, avoiding the language and style which is commonly associated with GFY drama. By reacting to the personal attacks in the way that you have, you are becoming guilty of that of which you are being accused. You are also beginning to cloud the issue as much as your attackers are attempting to and that is playing straight into their hands.
Look on the personal attacks as a sign that your efforts are making an impact. Ignore most of them and the more vitriolic those attacks become, the more objective and respectful your posts should be. More people may reach conclusions from that contrast than from what is actually written.
This issue is not Will76 vs Lars and a lot of people have put time and effort into making that clear. You deserve credit for persisting so that it was taken up more widely. Don't throw all that away by trivialising it down to a series of personal squabbles.
