It's all well and good to say that they should have let the cops in for a search and everything would have been fine.

BUT why did the cops on entering the house, use such force and then proceed to arrest and interrogate them?

If I accidentally call the police and then hang up, there's not a chance in hell they are entering my house. If they then try to force their way in, then i'd be inclined to seek legal help!
