OTA HD broadcasts have some of the highest bandwidth through put currently. Sat and cable companies lower bitrates resolutions(1440x1080) to save on bandwidth. Both directtv and dish do this with all they're HD channels aswell as most cable companies.

Getting only the network channels as opposed to getting channels like ESPN, TNT, Discovery, and HBO... yes, a waste. :-)
