Same here. My email is almost worthless at ths point. I'd be surprised if for every 100 emails that came in, 5 were not spam or viruses.
I got Mail Washer a few weeks ago. Works great.
It just downloads the headers, and you can delete all the crap you don't want. Has a blacklist and spam detection too. Pretty good stuff.
