The beach is nice... but maybe consider something besides Miami... Miami has some bad areas -- crime, poverty...
Plan on learning to speak Spanish or pretty much you're going to get a lot of attitude from the locals... Total bullshit, but what can you do? They don't give a fuck and will sometimes pretend to not understand you.
I'd investigate a little further north too...
