Heh, you could give a bunch of hardcore hobbiests over at the C-band forums coronaries by referring to DishNet and DirectTV as "official satellite providers" (suggesting that their system is not

)
What's interesting is while C-band requires a large dish the channels I get on the Ku side of my big dish's mpeg receiver could be picked up on the same receiver with a dish about a meter in size. This is actually a popular way to receive TV in Europe and other countries but in North America those frequencies are used more for the distribution of feeds, backhauls and niche/ethnic programming. While I can swing my big dish over to IA6 get quite a range of Mideast TV and programming, someone with an interest
only in MidEast programming can buy a receiver with small dish for under $150 and aim it at that satellite and receive the same channels. It's the same with blocks of channels for Asian, Spanish, etc. aimed at viewers in the US
I find it fascinating to check out all the stuff bouncing around over our heads even if I don't know what they are saying
