I agree mostly with what you say, which is why I said he needs it for confidence.

The amount of "fights", "muggings", "trouble" I've got out of by just knowing how to HANDLE the other person is well... A lot.

Example 1, I get some road rage. Guy starts getting crazy and jumps out car. I apologize for what I did to piss him off. Instead of defusing the situation he must have seen me for a soft touch, so I went the other way. Started shouting and threw my hat off exposing my shaven to the bone head. He fucked off.

Happened dozens of times.

If you don't have the confidence then you wouldn't have the GUTS to escalate the situation if you know it needs to be.

Even with all the obvious problems with Martial Arts, you can't deny they give you extra confidence - hence my statement.
