I disagree but that's neither here nor there - everytime I hear Cash sing this song, I hear the sadness but I also feel like I can hear him thinking in the back of his head "why the hell am I singing these whiny goth rock lyrics - what the hell is wrong with the kids today?" LOL - just like what you said here "sang from his heart more than any whiney trent reznor ever did"
Cash was a man's man and I just don't think the song was his STYLE - that's my problem with it - the song FITS better when Trent sings it because Trent believes the words - the whole song is SOOOOO Trent - Cash's style of lyrics and music is totally different - I just think the original artist is always going to be so much better because they wrote it
