personally i think the sandbox is a myth.. perhaps at one point they had an actual cutoff. i think its more like a sliding scale now..

so if you had a year old domain and i had a brand new domain and we both seo'd for a unqiue term the older domain would have a slight advantage..

but lets look at a real life example. . recently a tv show "the colbert report" made a joke about the term "wikiality" and how it didnt exist on google. within a short time someone from gfy bought the domain , and within a few days there were almost 1 million pages found with the term.. but the brand new domain ranking #1 . mind you there are alot of other factors.. the word wasnt used up until the domain was so its a fresh term
