I went to misissippi less then a month after katrina, and then to new orleans a few weeks later and spent about 2 and a half months in that area.
insurance companies were FUCKING people and had to hire armed guards to guard the hotels they were staying at so the insurance holders who got fucked wouldnt fuck them up...
the french quarter was relativly untouched and most of the stuff was back up and running.
some of the bars in the quarter opened up b4 they even had electricity
everyone was VERY nice and it had a very tight knit community feel to it
the national guard patrolled bourbon street and yelled at people to get off the street b4 curfew (2am) as if it were some 3rd world country
there were hardly ANY chicks
pretty much no traffic laws were being inforced, people were parking on sidewalks and street medians...
the house next door to where i was staying was missing an entire side of their house, so you could see in as if it were a doll house
seeing the shit i saw there definatly had an effect on me, and the little respect i had for the crooked dumbass bush administration went out the fucking window
america is in a bad state
