The worst thing that happened to me flying was my trip from Atlanta where I had spent two days working with National Net. I had a connecting flight to Vegas, and from Vegas to Phoenix. Our plane was delayed by about an hour on the ground in Atlanta and once we took off I doubted I would be able to catch my connecting flight. I figured at worse I'll just call up some industry folks I know in Vegas and have a little party and crash there.
Much to my surprise as we landed in Vegas I was called up to the front of the plane before we hit the gate. I was told that the gate we were pulling up to was next to the gate of my departing flight - and that they were holding the door open for me. I was the first one off the plane and a few seconds later they were closing the door behind me on the other plane.
I thought it was great.
