I was wondering when this was going to happen. It seems only logical that the two merge as there is no room for competition for paid radio in my opinion. When you look at cable vs satalite tv, you are basically being offered the same programming, you are just receiving it through a different channel. It really surprised me when they started putting satalite radio in cars bc who would want to pay a monthly fee for radio and only get half the programming that they wanted. Not to mention the fact that in most cases you couldn't choose which provider you wanted. I always felt that there were a few good programs and channels out there that are selling the service for either provider, but as a whole package it is not all that desireable. Consider that by now many people have invested in an ipod or some other mp3 player and is walking around with the music that they want to listen to and you can change up that music for free whenever you want to. So why would you want or even have a need for the music channels when you have to pay a monthly fee for it? anyways, the bottom line is that I think this is a good thing for them and is probably the only way satalite radio is going to survive for much longer if they continue to charge a monthly fee for their service.
