As far as I know Sticks of Dynamite can't be set off with a fuse. It needs an electric charge. And even if it were possible to do it the way this guy did (and it's not) the timing would have to be absolutely perfect.
If the fuse were too it would detonate lower in the water and it wouldn't create such a perfect wave.
If the fuse was too short he'd run the risk of it detonating above water and potentially killing his friend.
If the throw was too close the compression in the water could easily crush his friends legs like pancakes.
If it were real (and it's not) I don't think the resulting wave would have broke so fast if at all. Explosions under water need much more force to create an outward ripple.
