Depends what you want to do. I do some web development, and Macs are a near perfect platform for it. Unix in the background so I can fire up VIM to write all my code, then test it in every single browser available today. You can run IE7, IE6 (or any other windows app), Safari, Opera, Firefox on your mac desktop all at once.
For those times you have to use a windows application for something, you can, using Parallels. For those times you need a unix command prompt and scriptibility, you have it. For those times you need linux open source programs, you can run them on OSX (most of the time).
