The mac OS as i understand it, is much simpler and requires much less oerating memory (ram), does this make it fast also ? how does a mac with intel chips runing on the mac os vs one similar runing on win os ?

Windows Apps running under Native mode Windows will run as fast as on any equal dedicated windows computer. Windows apps running in a Parallels emulation window will run slower since they are running in emulation mode.
Native files written for the Intel will run as fast or faster than the Windows program. Programs written for the PowerPC processor will run seamlessly but since they are in an emulation mode slower.
