that's an excellent question and one that i don't have a full answer for.
first and foremost a webmaster is a webmaster is a webmaster. whether you're running a 'reality' site or a 'blind lesbian wheelchairbound midget site' a lot of issues are going to be in common, ie traffic, password protection, general shooting of the breeze and you don't need a separate board to do that.
a lot(vast majority?) of gay sites are owned by straight companies/people. so they have little interest in what gays or a gay board can provide beside forking over their money. It's well know that some of big companies just hire a 'fag' to deal with that end of the business. That's hardly the progressive business model that i'd like to see but it is the reality.
and then a lot of people simply don't have the time. a board needs a certain number of regular posters to survive and thrive. look at gyf here... there are a certain number of regular posters who post cum rain or shine, then there's the loony toon fringe who add spice to the mix, and then there are bots/alternate personalites who stir things up...
so with a relatively small number of people actually running gay sites cuz they enjoy it... i don't see how a gay board could thrive.
