heres the letter so far. I wrote as if my gf did it. This is going under everones door in the building tonight.
Quote:
GALLERY XXXX SECURITY WARNING
On Friday, December 27th 2002 a unit in our building was burglarized and over $10,000 of electronics, dvd's and hand-made jewelry was taken. It is my belief that the perpetrators may be associated with building staff and hopefully the following list of events will illustrate this theory.
1.) At 7:30am I left my unit to take my dog for a walk. When I returned, the bottom lock on my door was apparently tampered with. Nothing was missing from the unit at this time. It is my belief that the criminal entered the unit, realized I was only taking my dog for a walk by either viewing me from the balcony or a second criminal stood watch in the lobby and communicated my activities with the criminal in my unit.
2.) At around 8:30am I left for work, bringing my dog with me and leaving via my boyfriends car (he is out of town) that was parked in the garage on the first level. Almost immediately after my departure the unit was entered a second time and burglarized. The reason I know the unit was entered only seconds after my departure is because the criminal(s) were stupid enough to take my boyfriends credit card and it was used at the grocery store and then the drug store only a few blocks away within 1 hour of the time I left.
3.) The criminal had enough confidence to defecate in one of our bathrooms while he was in our unit. To me, this means he knew that 1. I left in a car so therefore would be gone for a while and 2. Probably had someone looking out for my return so if I did come back unexpectedly the criminal could have been warned with plenty of time to leave the unit.
4.) My boyfriend works from home and on various occasions has seen suspicious activity within the building. Until now, he thought nothing of it and as most would do, trusted in the understanding that we are paying to live in a secure building and that building management would do its job to ensure certain procedures are followed to prevent this from happening.
It is my firm belief that this crime was a calculated act that only someone working in the building could accomplish successfully. This letter is to inform residents of Gallery XXXX of a serious security issue that exists and it is my belief that this probably isn't the first time this has happened.
I have set up a temporary web site which you can visit and submit anonymously any feedback or related crimes that you may have been a victim of while living at gallery XXXX. I seriously doubt building management would publicly admit internal problems, as it would hold them liable for such crimes. We have also obtained legal council in this matter and have sufficient evidence linking the crime to employees within the building. This evidence will be released via the web at an appropriate time.
