I am working on my sites when I get an email saying that I just sent money???
I logged in right away and saw 3 transactions for $1000GBP and 2 for $500 GBP. So I started to freak when suddenly my account access was limited due to "suspicious transactions". Paypal had noticed and had frozen it (in a way).
So I called my cc company and told them. They will be investigating and have changed my cc number in the meantime. I called my bank and told them the same. They don't see the pending charges yet but they will take note and let me file a fraud complaint when it does come through. All those fraudulent transactions are now in the resolution center in paypal and the guy on the phone told me that they will "investigate" and I should have the funds back within 10 business days.
The hacker went under this name:
Mar. 7, 2007 Payment To Anatoli Pogudin Completed ... -£500.00 GBP
Now for the good part:
I just got an email from the hacker himself:
"Hello... I am Sc3ar1. I hack u PayPal. And other Informatsion.If u don't give me 1 000 $ i Selling u informatsion (Bank accounts, credit card numbers)
(C)Sc3ar1
(xD.pro Hackers team)"
The bastard!! His email was
[email protected] ... maybe he was from russia or maybe it was his spam email.
I obviously won't respond to him but what's killing me is how he got in in the first place?
- I don't answer phishing emails and always open a new browser to access my account.
- I don't use my paypal password for anything else nor do I keep it on my computer.
How the hell did he get in??
Could he have gotten my cc info and bank info even though, when you login to your paypal account, the info is encrypted. Ex: Visa # xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-5555

**Funny, he didn't change any of my person info, add an email, etc...
