The Extreme chips rarely go below 800... even though they are worth less... I think Intel likes to keep that prestige going which is why a lot of people buy it to start with. The QX6700 started off at over 1600 so I was happy enough when it dropped below 1000.

Well... my box already had a ridiculous amount of fans... 6 total
- 2 90mm in the front
- 2 120mm behind the drive bays (8 with airflow 3 with no front airflow)
- 1 120mm in the rear
- then of course graphics card and the PSU
For the CPU Cooler I used a thermal electric unit that uses an electric current to pull heat along faster (the Peltier effect). It can actually go below the ambient temperature and FAR more convenient then water-cooling. The only thing that could be better is a refrigerated type system but they cost like over $250. The thermal electric cost 150 or 100 for the base model
Heres a link to the Thermal Electric Thing

Heres a shot of the rack behind my desk with all the fans and shit.
And ad you can see the heat sink on the thermal electric is pretty retarded. I think it's too big actually... because it comes so close to the PSU that I think it restricts airflow.
