Best bang for a buck is any f-body with an LS1. No GT will come close to touching it, and the Cobra won't either. (MAYBE the supercharged one, provided it is driven well - prove to me that it is faster - timeslips naysayers?) There are still new F-Bodys for sale all over the place. Problem with that car is the little girlies couldn't afford it, nor could the hat on backwards Yo Yo Yo weenies. It simply cost too much.
Camaro is gone, so is Firebird. GM is famous for that. Just when they get a car right, they stop building it. The Grand National, for instance. That car was perfect, they stop building it. The Camaro will be back, I am not sure about Trans Am and Firebird.
I would rather have a used Z-28 then a new mustang any day of the week, and my used car will beat your ass bad. I drove a white GT a few years ago, it was a turd. I drove a 2002 SS, and it was wicked fast. It is a vette engine with 2 bolt mains.
On the other hand, I am contemplating the supercharged Cobra once SVT irons out the wrinkles. Ford build quality is a joke. Didn't they stop building the Cobra one year, and stop building the 2003 for awhile because of quality issues? Or, a Lightning...very nice truck.
Mustang = for people who can't afford a Camaro
Camaro = for people who can't afford a Vette
Vette = for people who can't afford a Viper
Here is my car incase you are interested:
