it really depends on what the definition of an event is. There is a need for professional event planners. In the case of for example public speakers, someone who cordinates the entire speaking tour, across multiple locations, deals with the cultural and local legal requirements. These type of event planners would work for agencies like IMG and manage the logistics for all the events for dozens if not hundreds of professional speakers. They are not your standard party planner.
