It's not my family, but I belonged to a canoe club once and one of my friends from the club got drunk one night and revealed that he had a brother who it turned out was a serial killer who would kidnap girls, torture them for days, and then kill them.

What do you say when someone tells you something like that?

(smile) "Oh, that's nice."

OR

"Hmm...want some more wine?"

OR

"Oh, that's nothing. Joseph Mengele was my uncle!"
