Case in point - a few weeks ago we encountered some guy who'd parked his car directly in front of the doorway (on the pedestrian hashmarks) of a glass skyway walk that connected from an office building to a multi-level parking garage.
We got a call about a handicapped dude in a wheelchair who couldn't access his vehicle in the garage because the guy's front bumper was about a foot away from the doorway.
It took four officers to lift the guy (and his wheelchair) over the hood of the car to get him into the parking garage so he could get in to his elevator-lift van.
He was held up over forty minutes (after quittin' time) because of where this jerk had parked.Comment

how strange that someone would be offended by someone giving out tickets
i get really offended when i see someone park in a handicapped spot that's not handicapped, it really pisses me off
i also think they should have spots up front for pregnant women
just something nice for the ladies
what sucks ass is i got one of those damn speeding tickets in the mail

in scottsdale, arizona they have vans with cameras all over in areas that are speed traps
like the street seems like it should have a 45 mph speed limit and it's got 25 mph signs up and a van right after the sign

Actually, its no surprise. We encounter his type all day long - people who feel entitled to park wherever the hell they feel like...then attempt to justify themselves.
Then they choose to shoot the messenger, rather than look in the mirror.
Personal note - my wife has degenerative rheumatoid arthritis and recurring lupus that makes nearly every day a hell to get around (especially in her knees). Yet she doesn't avail herself of a handicap parking permit, but voluntarily chooses to use regular parking (the doc tells her exercise is helpful for her condition).
So whenever I see some lowlife fuckwad illegally using a handicap spot, I have a personal hardon for dealing with them within the context of my job.
