OK ... not to sound like a total asshole .. but i was married to a "Bipolar" woman .. and it was easily the biggest mistake i have ever made.. depending on the level of the illness .. it can be just way to much for someone to deal with ... if it can be managed by medication ... valproic acid and other easy to manage meds .. then there might be a chance .. but in my own personal opinion .. if it is not being managed now .. don't try and "save her" .. don't stay with her because someday she will be better .. I had 2 kids with her and I actually had to removed her from the house the day my son at the time was 6 and he said " Dad .. i am sad .. i think i want to go drown myself in the pool" .. he was learning from her behavior how she dealt with things .. I know this sounds harsh .. sorry I lived 7 years in the most self destructive relationship because I kept thinking any day now they will have a cure .. I was wrong .. it's an unbelievably difficult disease to live with as the patient .. and 100 times worse as the partner .. if your gonna stay .. go to doctors appointments ..councilors .. psychiatrists .. etc.... and read and learn as much as you can about it .. but like i started saying .. I couldn't do it and I would never recommend it to anyone .. sorry ...and I do apologise to any and everyone with this disorder .. this has just been my experience ..
