Ever been to a Fetishcon or Bondcon event and talked with other producers (not merely webmasters)? The majority will tell you they don't earn an overly lucrative income - in fact many are lucky to break even at the end of the day. A large number of them do what they do because its an enjoyable extension of their lifestyle. Not everyone is in the game solely for the money, contrary to what many around here evidently assume.
Producers differ from webmasters when it comes to earnings. Small-scale ma-'n-pa operations often walk a tightrope between expenditure and generated revenues. Models cost money. Camera, lighting, studios/locations, makeup, computers, props, etc. The overhead cost is comparatively enormous for producers.
Many I've talked with at conventions hold down second and third jobs. No shame in it. They're not on the welfare dole. Along with our bondage/fetish production, my wife and I hold down two additional 9-5 jobs - as well as my third job as a mainstream photographer and graphic illustrator (which I do in my rare spare time).
One of the biggest mistakes here on GFY is people constantly leaping to erroneous assumptions about others based on a few simple message posts.
Its rampant and ridiculous.
